**Current opening for the 2024-2025 School Year - This is a full-time Intervention Specialist position at JRC. Duties include teaching English and Science Middle School, inclusion classes, individual and small group resource room assistance, and uipdating current IEP, ETR and 504 plans, working together with another Intervention Specialist and classroom teachers. The Juvenile Residential Center of Northwest Ohio is located at 1012 South Dunbridge Road in Bowling Green, Ohio. **

 

Qualifications:                    

  1. Valid Driver's License
  2. Appropriate State of Ohio Intervention Specialist License
  3. Demonstrates a sincere desire to aid at-risk students.
  4. Good health, high moral character, and good attendance record.

General Description:          

Help students to learn subject matter and skills, which will lead toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth.  Directs and evaluates the learning experiences of the incarcerated students in activities conducted as part of the JDC educational program.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Maintain records as required by district policy; maintain professional ethics.
  2. Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships.
  3. Provide evidence of professional growth.
  4. Provide guidance and counsel to the students, which will promote their academic welfare and their proper educational development.
  5. Administer the classroom and its program of organization and management. Discipline and control should be maintained at all times with those whom the teacher is charged with supervising.
  6. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with home school, relating to student assignments and progress reports.
  7. Develop teaching materials, instructional methods and lesson plans each day which indicate implementation of the course of study.
  8. Cooperate and collaborate with other classroom teachers.
  9. Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter. 
  10. Be prompt in arriving in and dismissing a class in conformity with school schedules, as well as reporting promptly to school and to any meetings called. The teacher is not to leave school before the regular scheduled time unless permission is secured from the Educational Coordinator.
  11. Approach subject matter in a positive and enthusiastic manner; present subject matter in a clear, calm, self-confident, and poised manner.
  12. Student progress is to be assessed as indicated on the daily lesson plans.
  13. Provide for the care and protection of district property.
  14. Keep an active record of inventory in the classroom.
  15. Assist in the selection of textbooks, equipment, and other instructional materials with the allocated fiscal budget.
  16. Attend county and faculty meetings as adopted in the Wood County Educational Service Center calendar unless excused by the Educational Coordinator.

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible members of the community
  2. Help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
  3. Conduct other duties related to the teacher’s duties as assigned by the Educational Coordinator or Director of Instructional Services.
  4. Participate in training and inservice required by the facility, Educational Service Center and DYS standards.
  5. Responsible for assistance in maintaining the highest standards of security for the facility.
  6. Maintain communication with the Educational Service Center, home schools, and County Courts, in regards to the student academic progress.
