General Description:

Provide educational support including tutoring, classroom management, organization of materials, and computer assistance for students under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher. 

 

Qualifications:

        1. Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education or hold an associate’s (or higher) degree,                or pass a formal state or local academic assessment of, knowledge of, and the ability to assist in, instructing or assist              in readiness for reading, writing, and mathematics.

        2. Appropriate State of Ohio certification (Aide Permit)

        3. Demonstrate a sincere desire to aid all student.

        4. Good health, high moral character, and good attendance record

        5. 18 years of age or more

        6. Valid Driver’s License

 

Essential Functions:

        1. Provide assistance for students when requested by the student or supervising teacher.

        2. Is familiar and consistently adheres to the WCESC Policy handbook, District Code of Conduct, classroom routine and                structure and each student’s individualized education plan.

        3. As requested, will assist the classroom teacher and related service provider in the development, implementation, and              documentation of student’s English Learning plan.

        4. Assist student(s) participating in general education classes.

        5. Be able to lift 50 pounds and assist children with physical and personal needs.

        6. Ensure the safety of all students in the school environment by supervising students during periods of transitions.

        7. Perform clerical duties such as duplicating materials, development of classroom materials and maintaining required                records.

        8. Assist in the maintenance and organization of classroom equipment and materials.

        9. Maintain objectivity, professionalism, and confidentiality with students and parents.

      10. Respond to all student in kind, fair and interested manner.

      11. Promote good social relationships, communication, and interactions between students.

      12. Serve as a role model for students by conducting themselves in a professional manner in dress, action, and language.

      13. When requested, attend and participate in all appropriate meetings pertaining to needs of English Language Learners              team meetings, and staff meetings.

      14. Complete all required training related to services being delivered to English Language Learners and any other 

            applicable training related to the safe and effective management of students.

      15. Assist teachers of English Language Learners in the classroom to increase student understanding and learning in the              classroom, homework assignments, etc.  Work directly with tutoring students as needed.

      16. Assist students and parents in the understanding of district and school procedures, such as: attendance,

            absence procedures, school bus transportation, discipline policy, and procedural processes.

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

       1. Serve as a role moral for students in. how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human                 beings;

       2. Helps instill in students the believe in practice of ethical principles and democratic values; and

       3. Conducts other duties related to the paraprofessional’s duties as assigned by the supervisor, principal, and/or the local

           superintendent of schools.
